Beginning Reading

Consistent, regular reading practice is needed especially for beginning readers.

The Beginning Reading class uses explicit phonics, selecting strategies appropriate to the learning style and needs of the individual student.

Each class includes story reading to capture the interest and inspire a child’s love for reading while modeling oral reading. Reading high quality literature also supports reading comprehension.

Learning handwriting at an early age is a perfect complement for beginning readers. Correctly forming letters and words helps develop fine motor skills and connects neural pathways increasing learning retention.
